2027: Peter Obi Presidency More Urgent for Igbo Nation Than Biafra Agitation

Published January 23 2026.

IGBESA OGUN STATE_The Worldwide United Forum for Igbo Patriots and Aborigines (WUFIPA) has officially declared a strategic shift in its political advocacy, stating that securing a Peter Obi Presidency in 2027 is now the most urgent priority for the Igbo people globally.

From Biafra Agitation to National Integration

For over five decades, the Southeast region of the country has been defined by a complex struggle for identity, equity, and self-determination. Following the conclusion of the Nigerian/Biafra civil war in 1970, the promise of “No victor, No vanquished” aimed to reintegrate the Igbo nation into the Federal fabric. However, persistent feelings of marginalization and a perceived “glass ceiling” in National leadership led to a resurgence of agitation -from emergence of MASSOB in1999 to the more recent activities of IPOB.

Today, a new political consciousness is emerging. Recognizing that the most effective way to address these historical grievances is through direct participation at the highest levels of governance, WUFIPA is leading a strategic mobilization of Igbos and non-Igbos toward 2027 victory for Peter Obi.

The group asserts that the realization of Igbo aspirations no longer lies solely in secessionist rhetoric or endless agitation, but in the democratic pursuit of the Nigerian Presidency in 2027.

The Urgent Call for Strategic Realignment Towards 2027

Rev. Dr. Onyekachukwu Edwin ChukwudireObi, the Founder and National President of WUFIPA, emphasized that the pursuit of the presidency must take precedence over regional agitation if the Southeast is to achieve its long-term political dream of Nigerian president of Igbo extraction.

“We have reached a consensus that the agitation for Biafra should be suspended for now, to allow a full-throttle focus on the 2027 presidency”. ChukwudireObi stated.

“A Peter Obi Presidency will not extinguish our regional identity and aspirations; rather, it will provide the necessary leverage and stability to address the long-standing concerns of our people from within the center of power”.

Precedent For Peter Obi’s Success in 2027

The WUFIPA organization addressed concerns that regional tensions in the Southeast might hinder an Igbo candidate, pointing to historical precedents:

“The Oduduwa movement-OPC in the Southwest did not prevent the Olusegun Obasanjo’s presidency in 1999 or his re-election in 2003. Boko Haram and the security challenges in the north did not stop Buhari from becoming president in 2015.”

Therefore, the WUFIPA organization argues that the Igbo nation must not be held to a different standard and should remain focused on the ballot in 2027.

Igbo Presidency or Nothing

WUFIPA reaffirmed it’s position at the forefront of this urgent call to prioritize Peter Obi presidency over agitation for Biafra, by adopting the mandate “Igbo Presidency or Nothing” for the 2027 presidential election.

The group intends to mobilize global Igbo support and build cross-regional alliances to ensure that the Southeast produces the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027.
