ABAKILIKI, EBONYI STATE-The Worldwide United Forum for Igbo Patriots and Aborigines (WUFIPA) has raised an alarm over alleged clandestine moves by high-ranking Igbo political leaders within the All Progress Congress (APC) to negotiate the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in exchange for Igbo block vote for the re-election bid of President Tinubu in 2027 presidential election.
The alleged Secret Pact
Highly reliable political sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, have confirmed that top-tier Igbo politicians are currently engaged in high-level, “water tight” secret meetings. The objective of these discussions is to finalize a deal that would see Nnamdi Kanu released before 2027 in exchange for Igbo block vote.
These leaders reportedly intend to guarantee a “bulk Igbo vote” for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC government. The proposed deal allegedly includes strict conditions, such as, total restriction of Nnamdi Kanu’s movement within Nigeria, a ban on international travel and strict monitoring of his public engagements, among others.
WUFIPA’s Position: A Political Misstep
The WUFIPA Organization, on behalf of millions of Igbos in Nigeria and across the globe has formally denounced this arrangement, describing it as a desperate political maneuver that is destined to fail. The organization maintains that the IPOB leader will not be a pawn in a “Kangaroo political deal”.
Speaking on the development in Abakiliki Ebonyi State on the occasion of WUFIPA grassroots mobilization program in the state capital, Rev. Dr. Onyekachukwu Edwin ChukwudireObi, Founder and National President of WUFIPA, stated:
” Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a man of exceptional integrity. We know he will not accede to such a kangaroo political arrangement. It’s a matter of public speculation that he previously refused offers as high as #500 billion to recant the Biafra agitation; we are confident he will not accept these stifling conditions just to serve the 2027 electoral ambitions of a few desperate politicians in the Southeast.
WUFIPA’s Position
WUFIPA warns that any attempt to weaponize the judicial status of Nnamdi Kanu for partisan electoral gains will backfire. The organization urges Igbo political leaders to focus on genuine justice and regional development rather than transactional politics that undermines the franchise of the Southeast electorates.
