Forgery of NNPP Logo & frivolous political demands: Nigerians Doubtful of Obi/Kwankwaso 2027 Ticket- WUFIPA

It appears there are growing concerns around the potential Obi/Kwankwaso ticket in 2027 because of what political analyst call the “Kwankwaso baggage”.

Circulating facts shows that Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso forged the logo of NNPP after 2023 election and betrayed the agreement between him and Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the founder and Chairman board of trustees of NNPP and NAGAFF.

Allegations of Betrayal and Forgery

Dr Aniebonam has publicly expressed that Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya movement attempted to hijack the NNPP party structure. The Aniebonam faction alleges that the Kwankwaso group unilaterally changed the party’s logo and amended the constitution without following due process. This has been characterized by critics as an “identity theft” of the party’s original vision. Multiple court rulings recognized Dr Boniface Aniebonam as the legitimate leader of NNPP, prompting calls for INEC to stop dealing with the illegal Kwankwaso-led faction.

Dr Aniebonam-led faction formally expelled Kwankwaso and his associates, including Buba Galadima, citing anti-party activities and the unauthorized takeover of the party structures. While Kwankwaso’s camp ignores these moves, the legal cloud and Kwankwaso’s dented image as a forger creates a “Risk Factor” for any coalition partnership with Peter Obi in 2027.

Kwankwaso’s Frivolous Political Demands

A recurring criticism of Kwankwaso is his insistence on “high-stakes give-and-take negotiation”, including demands for vice presidency and specific juicy key ministries for his followers, which many Nigerians view as “Greedy political Demands” that could stall a unified opposition and a justified reasons to have a rethink about Obi/Kwankwaso ticket.

The Tambuwal Alternative

The suggestion of Aminu Tambuwal as a replacement for Alhaji Kwankwaso is gaining traction for several reasons.

Tambuwal has been seen as a “bridge-builder” within the ADC coalition and has a history of working across the North-South divide without the same level of internal party friction and forgery accusation currently facing the NNPP.

Critics like Rev. Dr. ChukwudireObi argue that Kwankwaso’s demand for the Vice Presidency and specific juicy key ministerial slots for his Kwankwasiyya loyalists shows a “personal agenda” rather than a “National rescue mission “. The WUFIPA Organization view Tambuwal as potentially more flexible in a collaborative government.

WUFIPA’s stance reflects a broader sentiment among some Igbo socio-political groups, civil society organizations and the Obidient movement, that Kwankwaso’s “Baggage”-specifically the legal battles over NNPP and his rigid demands-could jeopardize Peter Obi’s chances in 2027 presidential election. They argue that a “cleaner” joint ticket is needed to consolidate the gains made in 2023.

WUFIPA view the betrayal of Dr Boniface Aniebonam as the betrayal of Igbo’s interest, and a red flag that Kwankwaso may betray Peter Obi in future, making it a double betrayal of Igbo’s interest.
